@VB0120-u4z still a sleeper that beats the 4 door/4seats sedan & production EV lap records in "limp mode" against cars with far more aero 🤨7:25 I think tesla is going to focus for a while on mass production of cheaper "25k" cars, plus the cybertruck which is a lot of work. when they eventually return to performance, with maybe a plaid+ with upgraded battery, or 2nd gen roadster, with all the experience about performance and track they accumulated, they are not going to make the same mistakes again, and its going to be another slap in the face for german/italian car manufacturers...dont get me wrong they are still just starting to scratch the surface, they have nowhere the experience of let's say Porsche, but the fact is they still beat the taycan and now they know how to put together track brakes/tires/suspension and make them work pretty well with track mode software

tesla M3P and plaid s dont miss a lot to become crazy good track car. they are already really good on shorter/slower tracks. they need mostly beefier cooling and brakes. I can see why they try to make performance versions with little compromise to comfort, range/efficiency, but it wourd be nice to see "RS" versions with carbon brakes, beefed up cooling, lower/stiffer suspension, wider tires (to help not only with grip but especially endurance), and a bit more aero like wing/splitter/diffuser. most of the suspension/wheels/brakes can already be upgraded with unplugged performance, but I think people dont want to mess with the stock cooling, and it would be nice to have everything in a single package. they have been promising carbon brakes/200mph wheels and tires for a while on the plaid but still not released

@viikmaqic knew someone who had at least half a dozen of these, sedans/wagons diesel/gasoline and also the very boxy ones (next generation ?), he would never drive/buy anything else and couldn't help buying any rustbucket/500000miles example for parts as long as it was almost free, so he always had a constant supply of spare parts in his yard(s). plus some older car with a tree that had grown inside.

there are many ways, and also many professional drivers are able to adapt their style to the cars/tracks and do whatever makes them faster and more confident in that particular conditions. But of course they will usually still have a style of their own

its funny seeing the NPCs trying to stay on the racing line thinking they still have a handful of seconds before getting overtaken, but a split second later the black series is already tailgating them then its oh shit, lets put my blinker on and let the big boys pass 😂😂

baesic4239 you know the rimac is actually 300lbs heavier than the Model S plaid...its gonna be faster than the plaid for sure but still too heavy to beat the top dogs that are all 1500-2000lbs lighter

@fjalics Roadster is probably quite far down the line, they'll make it one day, but every key strategic vehicles/project like cybertruck, 25k Model Y mini, new factory constructions, in house 4680 batteries manufacturing, will be prioritized. If tesla want to draw attention on the performance side, they can also more easily make a Plaid+ that would be just a Plaid with -higher discharge/power density cells, beefed up cooling capacity j, plaid track package including a decent sized wing or at least a bigger spoiler, and splitter like the aero kit from unplugged performance and like the other sub 7:30 sedans , additionnal suspension hardware upgrade, you have a car that will very easily improve on the plaid Plaid+ was supposed to be a bigger 500+ miles battery, but if they want track performance more weight is not good

Porsche has to rerun with a production flagship Taycan turbo S, and tesla rerun with the plaid when it has 200mph rated tires

@derbigpr500 no PLENTY of people crash (sometimes very badly) in drag races, even with cars that are way slower than a plaid. Haven't seen any tesla crash in a drag race. at least ESP is working, Tesla with the old hidden dyno mode - 0% traction control or ESP - were completely impossible to control so software IS important

@Seventh7Art AND 200+ mph too. Feels like the complete track package should have also MUCH beefier up cooling, so that it can run at full blast even with 100% regen without overheating. Tesla "100%" regen is actually still very weak. it's actually 15% regen (~115 kW), should be much closer to 100% (750kW), and linked to the brake pedal. the brakes would run much cooler, range on the track would be easily doubled.

so you used 25% for 1 lap, that means 37 miles or 60km on 100% battery....race/track EVS need MUCH stronger regen like Formula E 3 gen they can recover 60% of the energy from regen and they dont even have brakes in the back its 1005 regen.... just needs much better battery cooling
