@PiefacePete46 it handles steep roads like a boss. you won't see Tesla semis soon because shipping would be a major issue.

1M or 1.5M miles LFP battery sounds like a great match for the shorter range semi. a battery that lasts more than the life of the truck...once battery is out of warranty it could even be sold to people building camper/RV and dont need the full range with 82000lbs load. you could even build an aero trailer and enjoy greatly increased efficiency

@bearlemley air transportation business is driven by cost. if electric aircrafts can deliver passengers and cargo safely over shorter distances, for a fraction of the cost of the ones running on kerosene and with simpler maintenance ,electric planes WILL happen for short haul flights first. for long haul, you would need exponentially more batteries to carry the same payload because additional batteries eat your payload.

@bobwallace9753 I think you are right about the semi delivering ~500miles from 100% to 0%. I think Tesla is often (too) optimistic for the future but I don't think they would straight up make a fake video of the truck driving 500 miles with a dashcam and a fake curve of the semi charge along the path. the average speed might not be very high but the semi was still driving normally and it was a demanding route with lots of elevation. the most serious estimates put the Tesla unladen weight around 27000lbs which are the very high end of semis but also consistent with 25000lbs upper range. 2000lbs is only about 5 % of the payload of a semi and electric semi are also allowed exactly 2000lbs additional weight vs diesel. the Tesla semi also being extremely powerful (1000hp+ and torquey, it can tow very heavy loads very fast on steep uphill , and can regen very efficiently downhill. it's better than any diesel truck at carrying heavy loads and still having better acceleration, braking, and safer thanks to Regen .

@jimpackard8059 500miles for the cybertruck was the spec Tesla expected for the CT 4 years before it's release. the battery pack is made to support double the number of cells but half of the cells slots are empty. they didn't deliver the max range yet for reasons that are still unknown. cost, weight or simply the availability of 4680 cells. they want to fullfill as many of the preorders as possible and puting double the cells means halving the production output. what's more puzzling is why announce the range extender in the bed when they could achieve 500 miles by putting the additional cells inside the battery compartment. But the Semi is a different story. 500 miles have been confirmed, filmed an documented
