@dagadgetguy it drove 500miles with 4% left. real world could be even higher with lower load but I doubt drivers will go down to 4% regularly

@reggveg changing all the existing cars and trucks to electric will take years and the grid will adjust progressively as it has adjusted to the growing consumption until 2000 if every vehicle goes electric it's only 10% increase but over the course of 15-20 years it's a very slow increase. by the way nobody ever said it would happen overnight. most western countries will stop selling personal gas cars around 2035, US will follow the trend more or less even if there is no ban.

@dagadgetguy also 400 miles is not a limit lucid has 500+ miles, but most EVs are 300 or lower. bit price is a bigger problem than range, and most of all availability/production volume. even with current specs more EVs could be sold
2
@reggveg also electric is already cheaper to run.
2
@reggveg weiight limit is already raised to 82000lbs for electric semi. 2.5% not a big deal
2
@reggveg yes the semi con go steep hills with perfectly cool brake pads unlike gas semis and it doesn't even lose range going up and down 4000ft elevation.
2
environmentalists blaming toyota for making hybrids are picking the wrong battle
1
@reggveg Tesla will. I think you cost estimate is wrong. there is nothing in a charger that makes it impossible to reduce the cost with volume. the BoM is not that crazy
