Comments by "Wubbers" (@wubbers662) on "Why didn't Japan Attack the Soviet Union in World War 2?" video.
Because they had tried and failed terribly (note this was a few skirmishes) also the Japanese had attacked the Soviets in the Russian Civil War in their area and failed. Ultimately, it was a smart move for the long term as it meant there would be no North/South Japan like North/South Korea or North/South Vietnam or no East/West Germany

@dffndjdjd The last time they were fighting in Siberia in a real war was the Russian Civil War and they were literally being supported by many other countries in Siberia and still lost and if they lose in a few bored skirmishes in Kamaitachi, then they would be crushed if they went into Siberia. It was a smart move to attack the US as it wrecked the US throughout the war even if they started losing (when the war ended they didn't loose a massive amount) and part of their surrender reason was the Soviet invasion of Manchuria

@justacommonman5935 Even in Moscow area the Germans succumbed to the cold, so of course going into Siberia against another enemy who won't surrender is a death sentence
