I would urge to do proper research before putting claims about places or people. The tired line of Kibera being the largest slum in Africa has long been debunked at least following the 2019 Kenya population census. The NGO world that exaggerate things to attract Western funding have long mischaracterised Kibera. From bogus claims of Kibera having 1 million inhabitants while the truth as per census is 170K. Kibera is also 2.5 km² in land size which accounts for 0.35% of Nairobi land area. All slums in Nairobi account for 0.9% of Nairobi, yes, less than 1%. As much as possible, endevour to report the correct information and in the right context. We have no issue with unbiased views (positive or negative) since all places have them, but we don't accept misrepresentations and mischaracterisations especially when some of these things can easily be verifiied.

The way you have undersold and mischaracterised this city is just mind boggling. One month and this is all you came up with? Funny how many African Americans love it here, it just goes to show you how people see things differently. Also, apart from the giraffes at the giraffe centre, you never showed anything else. No sights and sounds, people, infrastructure, city skyline, shopping malls - nothing. This was such a poor take and very underwhelming. Good bye!

@padmasalam5267 I saw a video or two of them in SA, I think Jo'burg and Cape Town and I actually once commented that he should come to Nairobi and forgot all about it. The algorithm sent me to his channel today and was excited to watch. Bit after watching the video I was aghast at how badly he sold our city whilst showing nothing. I find it hard to believe how other AA's enjoy this city and how bad a take he had on it. Hopefully the algorithm will send this to many Kenyans so that he can learn from Kenyans on how not to misrepresent their country and pretty much poo poo on it. Thanks for your feedback, I now get it. I can see gray hair on their heads, clearly it ain't wisdom but petulance.

@TheYarbros Keep scrolling for my other comment where I've commended you for a balanced view unlike the first Nairobi vlog where you were out of line.

Your next stop should be Nairobi, Kenya. It would probably give Jozi, Atlanta vibes as well but it is not a sprawling city like Jozi. Most of the city dwellers live within the urban core. Plenty of AirBnB's, highrises, restaurants, night clubs and lounges, hustle and bustle and 100% melanated. Worth checking it out.
4
He is a low life traveling on the cheap and misrepresenting a city that he can hardly afford to live in. Such a waste of space.
3
So you don't get love from East Coast? Where exactly because 100% Kenyans are very hospitable and the AA's who are here don't wanna leave. Don't tell lies just because you came to Africa with a preconceived notion. I will agree with you though on the point of sharing similarities with South Africans about segregation, discrimination and race relations in general and its impact on the socio-economic outlook. The two AA's and SAns can empathise on many aspects
3
@KoolE23 You responded like you were hurt. You didn't find somebody to feed your ego in KE like you thought. Well, tonnes of Black Americans loving it here and they never wanna go anywhere else. Don't take my word for it, look them up they are all over YouTube. Waste of space!
3
@GengeMauMau Wewe maumau fake tutolee ujinga hapa. Kamlambe matako huko, kwani hauna macho na akili? What is there to see on this video? Show the chaos, the poverty if that is what he wants to show.
3
@bellaolum9768 But these guys haven't showed anything. What did you watch here? He just went to Giraffe centre, took shots of JD at the counter and sat in Karura to rant and misrepresent Nairobi. At least show us the so-called chaos, the poverty and all things they didn't like to back his claims and not rant. These are the first AA's I've encountered that look and talk weird especially the big "baby" man.
3
In your dreams. Those are like suburbs in Nairobi.
2
@TheYarbros Offend who? If you thought you would offend anyone through your videos, why talk about it? Or you thought talking about it will be less offensive? Does that even make sense? Did you also think showing all the good stuff and there's plenty of that would also be offensive and decided to not show as well? The more I read you, the more you prove you are NUTS!
2
How ignorant are you with a Kenyan name. Data is bought in packages same as bundles for phones. There's 5G in Nairobi. These clowns are looking to live for cheap because they are in "Africa". Don't be the person who propagates misinformation like these clowns.
2
Continue pandering to them until they say something you don't like.
2
@bliss252 You can kiss their a$$ all you want, but show me on the video about their claims. Listening to an old man ranting actin' a fool is not my idea of a vlog. Show us the chaos, the poverty, at least back up your claims and don't misrepresent the city. You fall for misrepresentation and I don't. Also don't give me lame advise, I've said what I've said and it won't change.
2
@KoolE23 We want you to stay there and don't show up in Kenya again. We appreciate those who want to be here.
2
@richardray2680 Alright, if we are on the same page.
2
Thanks for calling him out. From the wrong caption, to showing nothing and ranting like a baby.
2
We don't claim him at all. Their roots are in West Africa, nothing East African about him least of all courtesy.
2
@celestetibbs3100 We don't need any validation from you or them. Do your thing and once your done go back home where your heart is. Ours will always be here, thanks.
2
Agreed with what? Misrepresentation? Shame on you!
2
@GengeMauMau As you try kissing a$$, what did they show about the city? Sitting in Karura, feeding the giraffe and ranting mischaracterising the city! You can bounce with them to wherever he came from.
2
@duduville So what did he show about the city? Let him show all those things you have said. Sitting in a forest ranting showing nothing and you are supporting that nonsense. Have some sense of pride even if you hate your city. We all know the city can do so kuch better but don't allow him to misrepresent it. Don't kiss a$$, think!
2
@industryagain So what did he show? Giraffes, taking shots and sitting in Karura ranting? Is that a fair balance?
2
Guys, let's not engage them so that the algorithm doesn't push their content here. They need to finish their stay and get the F out of our country.
2
@lilac8794 And you think we care about what you think? What did those developed cities offer you when many can't match Nairobi vibes? I lived in one of the so-called developed cities and they are boring AF!
2
@genesisbera7761 Oh really? And he has an opinion about Nairobi while he lives in Dar-Slum? Such a funny fella.
2
@genesisbera7761 Of course I know that. That's why I don't give them attention.
2
He should bounce his a$$ out of here. They have overstayed their welcome.
1
Thanks David for this. I see Kenyans here pandering to them after doing such a horrible job about Nairobi. Let's continue calling them out until they shape up or shape out. We don't mind people not liking it here but don't misrepresent or mischaracterise our city. Old folks but behaving like tots.
1
Go watch Auston Holleman, Residential Tourists, Kidgreatness who are black Americans based here in Nairobi. He has really undersold it and I frankly think he should bounce back to SA and live our city alone.
1
😂😂😂
1
Because you are the president of the country and can decide who comes and don't come here, sindio?
1
@stefanossmitty3318 Because you don't know any better. I've clearly given a source of Kenya Bureau of Statistics national population census of 2019 where everything is documented about Kenya. Of course google will tell you anything because there are many sources about Kibera and a lot of it is wrong. Even after giving you official source, facts about population and size of Kibera you still chose to be lazy instead of fact checking me. Don't be like the "white saviors" who misrepresent Africa for selfish and nefarious intentions. Be better or shut the hell up.
1
He is such an ignorant guy fool of childishness. Thanks for giving it to him.
1
@goldenheart751 So East Africa is TZ and Zanzibar? Do you know TZ and Zanzibar is one and the same country? Do you know East Africa community has 8 countries? I see you brought your American ignorance to Africa. By the way Nairobi can give Jo'burg a run for its money in several aspects. Since you've never been just zip it. And yes even Lagos vibe is infectious with all its problems. Maybe SA reminded you so much about America including the race disparities in everything and you got confused. Why would you leave America to experience another America in Africa? That's kind of mediocre thinking, don't you think so?
1
@Mqhwane So you're the YouTube police going around telling people what to write and not? Sit down, this is a free space. Who cares about your opinion and why should you care about mine?
1
Nairobi is literally the same size as New York city at 700 km² in size. Try another lame line.
1
@richardray2680 That's why you should really think before writing. Calling it a small city is false for all intents and purposes. There are cities organised around its urban core like NYC and Nairobi and sprawling cities like Jo'burg. New York City has more packed in its urban core than probably any other city in the world. And guess what has more inhabitants than Jo'burg. Nairobi is pretty much same population with Jo'burg. Lagos is just a big mess and not worth compared to Nairobi. These guys will just have to go back to SA because no other city in sub-sahara Africa outside of SA will be comparable to Nairobi.
1
@richardray2680 I am also curious, what doesn't Nairobi offer its people and visitors that other cities do? Maybe mention 3 things.
1
😂😂😂 it went over his head. In fact his level of education is showing.
1
I have never seen such a bad take on Nairobi. The white savior mentality from a black man who think they got Nairobi figured out. I've been holding off from subscribing and I won't watch him again.
1
@johndoe-er3qi Let's watch the video, show what you are talking about, don't sit in a forest and rant misrepresenting the country. You think someone being here for one month has a better take of the city than me who was born and raised here. Also a good video is a balanced video. He showed nada on this video, he just ranted and acted petulant for annold man. There are a lot of negative Nairobi videos, go bingewatch them now that you hate Nairobi being colpared with the finest in the world. You are lame to think that misrepresentation is OK.
1
Thanks for pointing it out and I am glad you noticed. I don't know what his attentions are, but he hasn't showed anything other than Giraffe centre and Karura forest. He was pretty much lamenting all through about Nairobi. We clearly don't need these kind of visitors. Let him bounce back to Cape Town where he feels he belongs among white people.
1
@celestetibbs3100 and we are happy that you are not here. Please never come back.
1
@bellaolum9768 So what did they show? Umeona nini? Hata wewe you are falling for this upuzi? Don't talk about it, show it - show all those things they don't like. Sitting in Karura and ranting is not vlogging. He might as well do a podcast and not a vlog.
1
@duduville Grow up and don't bring your assumptions of whether I've traveled or not. Gaborone, Windhoek are tiny cities that shouldn't even be mentioned next to Nairobi and there's nothing in those cities to rival Nairobi on anything. Greenery in Nairobi alone make those desert cities pale in Nairobi's shadow. I am well aware of what ails Nairobi; I am in forums where I complain a lot about Nairobi and mediocrity of its leadership, so spare me the advise, I am well ahead of the curve and I make my concerns known to relevant authorities. Now tell me, what did you watch on the video? Because I saw nothing other than Giraffe centre and a man ranting at Karura forest misrepresenting Nairobi. I have no problem him showing whatever he wants to show, just show it, don't narrate things that you are not showing. You are actually applauding him saying this is a city that needs humanitarian jobs more than anything else? Really? Complaining about 15 mbps data speeds which he can easily upgrade upto 1 gbps if he can afford it or ask his host to upgrade it. Ridiculing us not being the silicon savannah because he wants cheap data! You want me to clap for that garbage that came from his mouth? You can kiss a$$ all you want but I'll put him in the straight and narrow and let him know he doesn't undertand the city or even seen better side of it and there's plenty of that. I have been to 7 countries and I lived in Australia fo 5 years so just you know. Maybe you need to travel yourself and tell us what you are doing here if you prefer living elsewhere. Let this sink in your skull next time you reference me.
1
@warengine3706 So you think you are the only one who's traveled outside of Kenya? Spare us your hubris and tell us what exactly you've watched on this video because all I see is a man ranting inside a forest! Maybe you think it's a flex indulging foreigners in negativity and misrepresentation, I don't. If you think this is an accurate representation of Nairobi, then you are also the problem.
1
@rubysailor9186 Go watch Residential Tourists, Auston Holleman, Kidgreatness etc, they are all African Americans who've been here multiple months and even over a year. They happen to be in the same city that is being misrepresented and you are here indulging this nonsense. All we are asking is don't misrepresent the city, tell all sides and even if one wants to show the downsides, at least do it don't talk about it. What's the vlog for? So according to you, you agree what stands out is that this is a place for humanitarian work? You agree with that mischaracterisation? Do better, I know people are attached to negativity and that's why you are indulging them.
1
@MohamedAbdalla-c8u And some Kenyans are indulging them in their nonsense!
