  1. Kileleshwa, Lavington, Kilimani are at best upper middle class areas and a few affluent people live here as well. The rich live in exclusive mansions in Muthaiga, Karen, Runda, Kitisuru and other exclusive enclaves of Nairobi.

  3. And SAns think you are joking. I watched this and I was like then Kenya is not badly off unless there are other areas better than what has been shown. And where I think Kenya has an edge over these properties is the greenery. These places are lush but Kenya's rich neighbourhoods are enveloped with trees, it's like homes built in the forest. Apart from Waterfall which gives Beverly Hills vibe, the others are not particularly better than what I see in Nairobi's rich neighbourhoods.

  8.  @wahwah7701  You could be a rich country or city but that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few. This is true of most capitalistic countries like SA and even Kenya. It is a fact that white South Africa controls majority of wealth in SA and I'm sure they are the majority living in those luxurious exclusive neighbourhoods/estates. In the USA, top 1% of rich people own 42% of the wealth. Mostly ordinary people are just used as workers/labourers for the owners of capital. So yes, Jo'burg is the richest city in SA and Africa but that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few. It has nothing to do whlith it being 80% black. Majority of that 80% of black population just provides labour and its share of wealth is negligible.

  9. A stunning city no doubt. But I'd only visit there but never live. The racial disparities in the socio-economic spheres is palpable if not obvious. I'd want to live in a city that has an African vibe and not necessarily European. Beautiful city but leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

  13. Blessed to have mortgages that you slave for the rest of your life and that costs an arm and a leg? Mortgage is only a good thing if it is priced right and doesn't go beyond 10-15 years. In most of Africa, it is almost unaffordable for the majority and people buy land and build their homes. There's no one way of owning a home.

I think the video should have also shown the suburbs with their greenery because all it says is where the super rich live in Jozi and I wondered then Kenya rich neighbourhoods aren't badly off if these were the best of SA. In Kenya, rich neighbourhoods like Muthaiga (old money) and Karen, Runda (new money) are basically forested homes for the amount of tree cover in those suburbs, you can barely see the homes unless you fly a drone which is also not allowed. What is shown in this video we call them in Kenya gated communities.

  15.  @sekatimangena2671  Nairobi and Jozi have pretty much the same weather/climate. They are both subtropical though Nairobi is nearer the equator and maybe a bit warmer. Also Nairobi and Jozi have the same elevation of more than 1700 m. The south/south east of Nairobi is more savannah like and the north/West is more lush with greenery.

Of course you are more richer, more developed and I don't think that means necessarily better. On the same breath, you have the most inequality, among highest in the world, crime infested with 27,000 murders in a year, highest GBV, highest unemployment, half the population on grants, white dominated economy with blacks at the periphery of the economy etc. So you still want me to say SA is better than Kenya?

Apart from a few Indian industrialists, the rest of the economy is in the hands of black Kenyans. Real estate, retail market, agroeconomy and agriculture, banks and Saccos, other financial institutions, private schools and universities etc. Can you say the same for SA? Absolutely NO! What is preventing you from speaking about Kenya? Say anything I'll be here to confirm or debunk any lie. What I have enumerated about SA is true that's why you haven't denied anything.

The government governs and provides public goods and services, it does not run the economy but only regulates parts of it. Isn't it the reason why Malema and his EFF wants to nationalise some parts of the economy because the wealth is concentrated in what he calls "white monopolistic capital"?

You have nothing in terms of tourism, don't even go there. You produce oil but you don't have enough fuel in your petrol stations, a country that runs on generators including the airport! Naira has fallen so much in value that 1 kenya shilling is now equal to 5 Nairas. Nairobi ranks as a global city ahead of all Nigerian cities, check out Gawk rankings. The only thing that Nigeria boasts of is its big population. When you land at the airport in Lagos, what you see is shanties and poor neighbourhoods from the sky. The giant of Africa is a giant only by population. Try and visit Kenya if you can afford it then give us your comparisons.

We have no mayors in Kenya, we have county governments complete with county assemblies and the Senate which oversees the counties. At the top we have national government what you call federal government that sits in Abuja. Be informed accordingly.

  33. One thing I would give Nairobi over Jo'burg on high end, rich neighbourhoods is greenery. From these videos I don't see trees though there is lushness. In Nairobi, the rich neighbourhoods are pretty much forested in lushness and you need a drone to even see them. Apart from Waterfall which gives Beverly Hill vibes, the other estates are not that different from what I see in rich Nairobi neighbourhoods.

All I said was based on what is shown in this video, Kenya 's rich neighbourhoods have more greenery/trees and apart from Waterfall the houses aren't that dissimilar from rich people houses here in Kenya. So stop crying as if you are rich yourself or own property there, we both don't. Personally, I care less about this ostentatious living of the rich, I am just pointing out the similarities and differences and yes Kenya's real estate is hot commodity and some property prices in Nairobi are as high as anywhere else in the world.

Nairobi is not Accra or Lagos that are port cities based around the ocean and sand. Actually Nairobi and Jozi are very similar in location and geography but your ignorant self believes nothing exists outside of SA in Africa. 2 years ago, the owner of this channel highlighted Nairobi real estate without the benefit of drone shots or being upclose in those neighbourhoods since they are very secured. He also did a comparison of Lagos and Nairobi real estate. For your information, some of the top neighbourhoods in Nairobi, that is, Muthaiga and Karen have 18 hole golf courses that host Kenya Open golf tournament every year and are part of European PGA tour with players from all over the world competing in it. Ignorance is no defence but a disease. Again, Nairobi property prices are some of the highest in the continent and the world.

  38.  @tnamr5652  Joburg is twice the size of New York but a dwarf to New York in everything, so don't even go there. Nairobi is same size as New York and its metro reaches other 4 neighbouring counties. I brought the issue of golf courses because it is also highlighted in this video for some of those neighbourhoods.

They can all afford the same things regardless of where they live. Based on what is shown on the video, I don't see anything particularly outstanding from what I see in rich neighbourhoods here unless you mean SA is the standard which I don't think is necessarily the case.

My point was Nairobi is a top tier city in Africa with high property prices just like Jozi. As for what it offers in quality, its pretty much the same.
