  124.  @duduville  Grow up and don't bring your assumptions of whether I've traveled or not. Gaborone, Windhoek are tiny cities that shouldn't even be mentioned next to Nairobi and there's nothing in those cities to rival Nairobi on anything. Greenery in Nairobi alone make those desert cities pale in Nairobi's shadow. I am well aware of what ails Nairobi; I am in forums where I complain a lot about Nairobi and mediocrity of its leadership, so spare me the advise, I am well ahead of the curve and I make my concerns known to relevant authorities. Now tell me, what did you watch on the video? Because I saw nothing other than Giraffe centre and a man ranting at Karura forest misrepresenting Nairobi. I have no problem him showing whatever he wants to show, just show it, don't narrate things that you are not showing. You are actually applauding him saying this is a city that needs humanitarian jobs more than anything else? Really? Complaining about 15 mbps data speeds which he can easily upgrade upto 1 gbps if he can afford it or ask his host to upgrade it. Ridiculing us not being the silicon savannah because he wants cheap data! You want me to clap for that garbage that came from his mouth? You can kiss a$$ all you want but I'll put him in the straight and narrow and let him know he doesn't undertand the city or even seen better side of it and there's plenty of that. I have been to 7 countries and I lived in Australia fo 5 years so just you know. Maybe you need to travel yourself and tell us what you are doing here if you prefer living elsewhere. Let this sink in your skull next time you reference me.

  174.  @lungamadoda6992  First things first, don't call me honey, I'm not your man. Secondly, where is the infrastructure and architecture story coming in on a video about some rich people homes and their locales? If you cared to read through the thread and the comments, nowhere have I said we are more developed than SA, in fact I have conceded on that issue though that was not the point of the video. But since you want us to discuss countries, let's start with yours. SA with all its minerals and economic headstart is the most unequal country in the world, with the highest unemployment in Africa, with half of its population on government grants, with unparalleled crime and insecurity, highest gender based violence including rapes not to mention 17 years of loadshedding and counting. A country that is dominated economically and through land ownership by the white minority and a failing government in ANC. Kenya with zero minerals is the biggest economy in East and Central Africa, largest non mineral economy in Africa and its economy is largely owned by locals. Nairobi is a global city that was ranked the best in Africa and 12th in the world by expats in 2021. In the same survey Jo'burg was ranked last in Africa and 55/57 in the world, go figure! In 2024, Lonely Planet ranked Nairobi as the best city to visit in the whole world. Your ignorant selves think nothing exists in Africa outside of SA. I can tell you this for free, per capita, Kenyans are the most educated and probably more exposed than any country in Africa. You having been to Nairobi/Kenya doesn't validate or invalidate anything. I was in SA in 2011, I've lived in Australia for 5 years, been to more than 7 countries so when I write about something I know exactly what I am talking about. You can't tell me what development and infrastructure is, I've lived that life.

  193. First of all, the customer service from KQ was horrible, they should have done a better job. As a Kenyan it saddens me to hear of the horror stories by passengers especially Africans of the treatment they get from airport staff - customs, immigration, cabin crew etc. The corruption and poor customer service have been flagged severally and something has to be done about this. They give the country a bad reputation especially because it is the first point of contact for travellers/visitors. Now as regards your issue, I trully feel you were a victim of circumstances. Ethiopian illegal immigrants have been using Kenya as a transit country on their way to SA. I've watched many times on news Ethiopians illegal immigrants found in houses somewhere in Nairobi, Mombasa etc. in their numbers plotting their way to SA. Obviously SA has flagged Kenya as a transit country and has possibly put strict/draconian policies for such instances. It could be the crew have firm instructions on how to handle such cases for specific nationalities especially first time visitors. That is not to say such instructions shouldn't be handled in a humane and considerate manner. I'm not sure they are at liberty to share that kind of information with individuals. All in all, this was unfortunate and I feel bad and sorry for you, I know I'd have ranted and gave them a piece of my mind if I was in your position. Africans need to do better and treat each other right, the rest of the world has already conspired against us.

  198. As a Kenyan and a student of Africa and the world at large, I'm fascinated by goings on in your beautiful country. As an outsider, I think the ANC went off track with the ousting of comrade Mbeki. The last decade has seen Mzansi stagnate or regress economically. The less said about loadshedding that has been going on for the last 17 years now the better. How can a country so rich at least by African standards drop the ball like this? Mineral riches, advanced infrastructure, manpower, availability of land and yet be most unequal, poverty stricken and insecure! How can the President think that his government/party has performed well when 47% of his people are on grants courtesy of high unemployment? Just like Kenya, SA is seen as a beacon of hope for many countries in Africa but ANC has thrown all that out. I know it's campaign season or silly season, so people will take credit for anything whilst they should be ashamed for omissions and commissions perpetrated by them. I feel sorry for "born free" citizens and hopefully they can get out to vote and change the direction of their country. As an outsider, I am afraid though that ANC will still be in government after the elections since DA is majorly seen as a white party and EFF doesn't have enough votes to garner the more than 50% required to win. The other parties are too small to have much effect on the outcome. The best case scenario is a coalition government where ANC doesn't garner more than 50% of the votes and hence it is forced to go into a coalition with EFF who would fundamentally alter their policy direction. Maybe just maybe a coalition of ANC and DA could also be in the offing as remote as that seems. Either way, the 2024 SA elections will be a watershed moment for the country.
