  1. I lived in Vienna - Austria for a year and I found out there it is better to speak English than proper German because Austrians there dislike Germans.

  2.  @haho1726  I think Swiss people dislike Germans because there are too many Germans living in Switzerland and taking jobs from Swiss people. When I asked some Austrians why they dislike Germans they said because of WW2.

  4.  @haho1726  Austrians speak German with Bavarian dialect that is very different from proper German. It is hard to understand Austrians even if your proper German is perfect.

  6.  @daniel6009  yes I told them that Hitler was Austrian so they shouldn't blame just Germans for WW2. They told me that they are not Germans so they should never be part of Germany because they are Celtic people which is again not quite true. They are actually mix between Celtic in western Austria and Slavic people in eastern Austria. They have some Germanic genes but less than Celtic and Slavic.

  14.  @Smiley1000able  Out of top 100 Nazis only 4 were Austrians and that includes Hitler and one that was actually Slovenian with Austrian passport. So beside Hitler only 2 were Austrians out of 100 top Nazis. Clearly Hitler had far lower support in Austria than Germany.

  15.  @Julia3455-r5l  the difference between Swiss and Germans is huge from language to genetics. Swiss speak French, Italian and German languages and they are mostly Celtic people while Germans are Germanic people.

  16.  @hmvollbanane1259  yes even Austrians from Vienna dislike Germans. I tried to speak proper German to them and they didn't like it. They prefer me when I was speaking English. I asked some of them why they don't like Germans and they told me because of WW2 which is crazy since Hitler was Austrian.

  21. ​ @schaetzcken01  I don't hate or dislike Germans. Austrians clearly dislike them. It is true that Celts and Germanic people are closely related but also Slavic are quite closely related to Germanic people because they are all Indo-Europeans with haplogroup R1.
