Brilliant video Lewis and I for one agree with your comments re local radio loosing its identity. Not sure there is any way back other than the resurgence of the pirates.

Nice one Lewis. I was listening too.

Good morning Lewis. Fabulous video and well done on researching these societies. A few familiar callsigns from history floated across the screen. Looking forward to more. Nigel G0RXA (@g8srs)

Another enjoyable tour of the region, keep them coming Lewis.

Interesting video Lewis. Used to work in Runcorn and have climbed that hill to the castle many times.

Brilliant!

That one 1️⃣ s right up my street. I remember in the distant past searching out NDBs and VORs. Nice receiver!!

Great video Lewis. Knew Harry reasonably well, he used to tell some real good stories about Woodford and his time in the RAF.

Well done Lewis, interesting video. I wonder with the closing down of these long and medium wave services whether any frequencies will be released for amateur use. I can imagine some enterprising amateurs wanting to use some of these facilities before they’re demolished for good.

Well done Lewis, I wondered what was happening. Please, keep us posted.

Cracking video Lewis. More please!!!

Thanks Lewis. Interesting video of which I hope there are more. I tend to use both a scanner and a range of Yaesu ham radio handhelds to monitor similar channels to those you mention.

Enjoyed that one Lewis, keep them coming 👍

Well done, cracking video. Big subject which as you say could fill a series, would that be a good idea? As well as my own kit I use the websdr in Enschede which I find has excellent coverage especially 8879 where both Mumbai and Shanwick can be heard. It’s interesting listening to the holiday flights to places like Tenerife using the oceanic routes all tracked at the same time on FR24. Good work Lewis 👍

Nice one Lewis. I can feel a trip to Hawarden is required. Did you try out the cafe?

Great video Lewis, I was there last week and followed a little in your footsteps. Did you pass by the Berry Head DVOR? Always worth a visit when up there. Nigel G0RXA

Enjoying this series of videos Lewis. Great to see community radio in these forms is still going. Locally some years back there was a Cheadle FM based in a local church. Was around for a month but has not reappeared since. Keep them coming Lewis.

Brilliant video Lewis. Interesting stuff 👍

Great video Lewis, really interesting. It’s surprising what you find when you start looking for these types of antennas.

Brilliant video from another head in the clouds viewer. Great subject matter please keep them coming.

Brilliant video again Lewis. As you say Start Point is a landmark in that area having been there many times. Good to hear it’s history. Always a nice walk down to the lighthouse.

Great video Lewis.

Interesting video again Lewis. Many, many moons ago I gave a presentation “aerial photography “ to SRS & much in the same vein as your subject. Went down well, and I agree it would be good to continue your tour of the region. A 2023 challenge maybe!!

Well done Lewis, another interesting video. SRS used to meet at TS Hawkins in the grounds of Pear Mill and I always thought the “Pear” related to the design on the top of the building.
1
I see “paperwork Ninja” has the answer to the “Pear”!!

So, that’s what you were doing on holiday!
1
Well done to Chris!! Suggestion re frequencies to add, some low earth FM satellites eg SO-50.

Cracking video Lewis from a regular visitor to Fleetwood. Would recommend an ice cream 🍦 from the kiosk next to the old radar unit.

Well Lewis, it looks like you’ve stirred up a hornets nest with this one. The BBC is a respected public service broadcaster worldwide but sadly is being treated as a political football by the current UK government by squeezing its finances leaving management to cut services to make ends meet. In a changing world it is too easy to cut services like local radio and TV output in favour of national broadcasts which while relevant don’t reflect the views of local people. Government need to recognise the BBC with its local radio setup provides programming to serve the people of a particular locality which going forward must be protected. In times of crisis who do people turn to to report the news, most likely the BBC.

Excellent video Lewis. Sometimes one looks at these masts and wonders what exactly is on them. For instance, I didn’t know Imagine’s successor had moved transmission site. I wonder if you’ve been up to Bowstones and reviewed the antennas up there? Keep up the good work 👍
