@ep8029 and didn't raise the tax allowance so now if you have a small pension you get taxed ! So actually most aren't getting the full increase as it's taken back in tax ..

@christopherwhite4153 When I was thinking of settling down I looked at a 4 bed house newly built in Minworth for 6500. I said "who'll pay that so close to the sewage farm !" Within 6 months the prices shot up, we had gazumping and everyone panicking trying to find a home. Now it was 6500 for a dilapidated terrace in Ward End. We were lucky to find one and we knew it. It was a struggle on two wages. Later I remarried and went through the mortgage rate rises to 15%. Again a struggle on 2 wages. Older generation didn't have it easy. Now we're being told our pensions are under threat because now it's a "benefit". Maybe it always was but we were never told that. It was understood we in our turn would retire and have a pension. After 6 more years I retired, now I can look forward to being a drain on the youngsters. Just like their parents grandparents were on me. I refuse to feel guilty.

Waspi generation. My state pension put back twice, 18 months then 4.5 years to 66. Both times with no notification. Finally retired on new state pension just over 203 a week. Pension credit adverts allow up to 201. This is a gateway benefit allowing access to cost of living help. So a lot of pensioners will not be eligible for further help. It stinks. Manipulated figures to downgrade pensioners, keeping them poor at the bottom of the list . Now because I'm lucky and have a small private pension which won't be uplifted/increased I'm going to have to pay tax next year. This deducts from the triple lock payment reducing my income. This is because they aren't increasing the personal allowance until 2028 ? Time to realise, not all pensioners are wealthy. Not all have had lives where they had enough to pay into pensions or great jobs that provided decent pensions for them. Now we are threatened with our bank accounts being scrutinized. This country is riddled with financial mismanagement and greed (Birmingham council for example) I was looking forward to my pension years, now I've realised that it's not meant to be enjoyed and it's likely to be subsistence level. I cut my cloth and manage money well but now I'm wondering for how long. When you pay 20 for a bottle of wine how can you realise the value of money ? Politicians don't care, they're "all right jack".

@Dan-qg1bq we all thought it was going into a pot for us, like a private pension, but no it was being paid out as quickly as it went in for the generation above us to have a pension. It was never our money. But the youth don't want to do the same for us. Life is never easy financially.
