I have reasons to dislike police. Never been in trouble but I was treated like a trouble maker when I turned to them for help. Person concerned had done years in prison, they believed him not me. I'll never trust them again and the women were as bad if not worse ! I'll do my best to avoid them. Sight of the uniform makes me too angry even years later.

I had a bad experience too. I'll never trust them in a crisis now

My husband was assaulted on his drive (tried to strangle him) I rang the police because this individual was dangerous. Wasn't remotely interested. No one came. He's still on the loose. Family were shocked , I wasn't. But then I know how it goes

Like Starmer they're afraid of a backlash from the public. Expect they feel like an endangered species out in the open. Personally I'm not keen but I do think that they need better leadership

And there's a glowing example of what's wrong with policing

When I needed help the women were vile.

@robinpickett7618 Good question I found them dismissive and just downright nasty. If they could have grabbed me and thrown me out they would have done. I'll never have respect for police again men or women. I went for help and got treated like the perpetrator despite not as much as a parking ticket in my 52 years. Against a man who had done 7 years in prison for kidnap. No, no police for me thank you. They say things have improved, I'd say it's worse.

Endangered species, rarely seen

Blimey a police station !!! Most of the ones in Brum have been sold off. I often wonder where they work from ???

@SloopyDog Powerless and disinterested is how I'd describe police. That's both men and women. You used to be able to go to your local police station but they shut them to the public or closed them completely. Maybe that's not helped as now there's no point reporting anything and nowhere to do it either.

Could do worse

The more that they get away with.......

That's a waste of everyone's time

They deal with a lot of scum, has to screw with their perception of the job. Start seeing everyone the same so guess it gets demoralising.

@robinpickett7618 Thank you Robin for your kindness. I'm ok now, put behind me 😊 I think the UK is too big now to go back to the best community policing that we had sadly. Lacking good firm leadership I think. The thin blue line is now a thin disgruntled demoralised blue line, and I think that the criminals know it and are taking full advantage. It's very very sad.

Get the bat light set up !!!!!!

Watch out the end of the month, if crime figures are low they go after motorists with speed cams to bolster their figures. Policeman told me...🥺

Brum has lost a lot of police stations. Nowhere to go and can't get through on a phone. Other than ringing 999 I've no idea. Probably wouldn't bother anyway...don't like police
