Kojla MC Your reading skills are appalling: “There is a difference between gay and being a promiscuous polyamorous sex machine that shows off to kids, ya know”. Sigh, where have I ever defended such behaviour, pray tell me. Being actually able to THINK, I well know there is good and bad in every demographic, but I certainly don’t give ammunition to gay-haters by blanket condemnation of a whole group, a la Joshua Wright. A few examples of his generalisations: “Most gay people I know use the gay card for everything”. As another person said, if that’s the case then he’s hanging out with the wrong crowd, which is entirely HIS fault. My gay friends certainly do no such thing.
“ The world is bored with gays because they make problems for themselves then blame the nearest straight person”. This was a particularly stupid generalisation of his, as most gays do no such thing, .....he is spewing exactly the same garbage the gay-haters come out with. Oh, and he’s wrong: far from being bored with us the world, at least in our society, now LOVE us!!!
Through all his posts Joshua has generalised about a whole group of people because of his supposed bad experiences. He completely ignores the fact that as a group we do not think with one mindset, as we are after all human. You have also made this mistake.

LTXOTETC. "Enjoy getting AIDS"......wow, what a pathetic specimen of humanity you are: a true piece of shit. Ok, asswipe, tell me where this outrageous Pride occurred that your cousin and her bf supposedly 'went to'. You see, I have been to many over the years and know them for what they are: glorious days out enjoyed by all, gay and straight alike. Just LOOK at the crowds faces, ffs: no outrage, simply everyone having a good time! I have to wonder if your cousin specifically went to Pride with the intention of becoming outraged, one way or another. I say this because I have seen you anti-gay types use this ploy often in the past: yes, the depths to which some of you will sink know no bounds! If you don't like Pride the answer is simple: don't go! Leave the rest of us to enjoy a great day out......nobody cares about you pathetic losers anymore. Triggered?!? LOL, yes, you certainly are! And your still a sad twat......

Al Martini 3rd I tend to reply to people in the same tone as they have posted, and so sadly am sometimes not as magnanimous as maybe I should be (see my replies to Pulsie Boi)! As for your bible references, well to me it just proves my point that that book has been altered/translated many times, and so is open to misinterpretation. My version does not say 'bring them out to us that we may know them CARNALLY'. Do you not see how that word may have been added at a later date in support of the mores of the time? And as for your horrific experience at that party all I can say is, boy did you get in with the wrong crowd! Look, there is good and bad in EVERY demographic, obviously, but you can't paint all LGBT with the same brush as these people, who I assure you I would certainly go out of my way to avoid, as they are shallow, and to be honest, a bit sad. But then, so are many heteros these days.....modern life, eh......

Pulsie Boi Hmm, you appear to be one of the types of peeps who are determined to find moral outrage in something, no matter what: In my 60 years I have attended many Pride festivals, and have NEVER witnessed displays of sexual intercourse, public or otherwise. If such incidents happen, then of course the participants should be arrested....it is not acceptable. But as I said, I have never seen this....have you? I do know that such occurrences have been known to happen at music festivals, though, which puts paid to your 'heterosexuals would never do this' shite. As for nudism, well no, I have never seen that either....not total nudity, at any rate. Partial nudity is seen by kids every day in the media, and I don't believe it fazes them: maybe they are tougher than you believe? I know of parents taking their kids to gyms, swim pools, nudist beaches, etc. where they are exposed to nudity, but they never seem to have a problem with it....maybe because they are brought up that way they just see it as natural? Which is not to say I agree with their bringing their kids up that way: not being a child psychologist I have no way of knowing whether it's beneficial for kids, so I have no stance on the matter. Look at the faces of the crowds at Pride events: all you will see are the smiling, happy faces of peeps young and old, gay and straight, having a great day out. No looks of shock, no kids going home traumatised, just a good time had by all. So no, sad man, the kids are NOT being indoctrinated, they are just been taught to be open-minded toward others who are different. Which surely you agree is a GOOD thing? They see far worse on TV and online every day than they will see at a Pride event, and after all, if their parents are fine with their kids attending such events who are you to deny them that right? I suggest you direct your fake moral outrage at something more worthy.....say, the sexualisation of children in the media?

Al Martini 3rd Yes, I know you were talking about something that happened over 40 years ago, and my reply stands: those types are best left behind. I grew up in a Catholic household ( again, over 40 years ago, strangely) and so used the revised standard version. it states 'Bring them to us, that we may know them'. So vague, don't you agree? In any case, even if your version is correct, the episode involved an act of sexual violence, not homosexuality per se, and so of course needs to be punished. As for changes to the bible, well I don't know about any copyright issues, but I DO know it has been mistranslated many times, tracts inserted, tracts removed, written and rewritten by men each with their agendas du jour, and so cannot be seen as being literal and true. I suggest you google 'was the story of Sodom and Gomorrah about homosexuality'......there are some fascinating articles!Having said all this, I have to say there is no historical evidence that these events ever happened, nor evidence that Sodom and Gomorrah even existed! There were cities on the plain, yes, but Sodom and Gomorrah? We'll never know for certain.

Courtney But that was precisely my point.... the way the bible is structured means there was ALWAYS going to be contestation. As I said, what chance do people have of getting it right when it is so ambiguous? As to you refuting my point about biblical authors ripping off earlier religions, well I have to request you provide unbiased links to support that assertion. I see no evidence to believe it’s the other way round.
And regarding my ‘violent times’ comment , well again, you can’t be serious?!? The vast majority of religionists who claim the end times are near cite this as one of their reasons: did you really not know that? They don’t specifically say religious persecution, just violence in general, as if there is more of a prevalence now. On a related note: you have made claims to not being religious. Can you please clarify what exactly you mean by that....do you not worship any god? I ask you this because many times in the past I have conversed with people who have made this claim, but when I have delved deeper it turns out they are indeed enslaved to one god or another. I would be grateful if you could explain what your situation is in this area.
Your understanding of Christianity is ambiguous, to say the least: you claim that warnings in the bible have come true, but it hardly takes a god to make such vague predictions as to what will happen in the future and being proved correct...it happens all the time. It simply takes a modicum of common sense and sagacity. And of course, circular reasoning.

Courtney It's strange, you seem to have a good knowledge of the origins of religions, but yet come out with such dubiously spurious remarks as 'For example, Noah also demonstrated this same allegiance to Yahweh and The Flood can be traced back to 2345 BCE.' I mean couldn't you at least be a bit more specific: what day of the week did the flood start? Was it on a morning? Afternoon? night? Gentle sarcasm apart, you have no proof whatsoever that such events as The Flood ever happened, nor that Noah ever actually existed, yet here you are typing as if it's all known fact like the worst kind of low-education brainwashed religionist! You are obsessed with linking such things as weather related disasters and humanitarian crises to biblical prophesies, but it really doesn't hold up: apart from the fact that there is no proof for any link, and that such 'prophesies' can, as I have already stated, be made by men with a religious agenda (such as religions becoming increasingly violent toward each other), there are many other reasons why such events are occurring, such as global warming and the relatively recent explosion in human populations. WHERE is the proof that Sodom and Gomorrah was an actual event, that they even existed? WHERE is the proof that The Flood was anything more than a fable? WHERE is the proof that god sent a bear to kill those kids for taunting a baldy man (I for one hope that little episode never happened....surely he wouldn't be THAT petty)? No, expecting people to slavishly adhere to events which may or may not have happened thousands of years ago is just a stretch too far, given human nature (again!).

Joshua Wright No, Joshua, you obviously haven’t a clue about what I’m saying, and the rubbish you are spouting is every bit as damaging to the gay community as any of the other anti-gay shit on this thread. You are trampling over the hard fought for struggles of past generations and if you ARE really gay you should be ashamed of the utter crap you have spewed forth. You are free to be open about your sexuality precisely because of the fights we went through not so long ago, and make no mistake, the haters are still out there waiting for their chance. I don’t bother with Pride any more, been there, done it and now leave it to the young ‘uns. But all the ones I’ve attended have been wonderful joyous days of celebration, not just for what gays have achieved, but for our straight friends and families who attend and have a great time. Yes, young ignorant fool, they still ARE relevant, as the many bigoted haters on this thread show. You know nothing and are appeasing the very people who are against lgbt of any kind. Please EDUCATE yourself before spouting utter crap.
