As a 60 year old gay male I can tell you my life was screwed up by religion until my early ‘20’s, when I finally realised I had to reject it to survive. Only then did my life improve. That’s the thing you bigots will NEVER understand: we are living our lives the way they were meant to be lived. Now, away from you types, my life is good. I am surrounded by people who love and respect me. Same goes for my wonderful partner of many years. ‘Gender dysphoria’?!? Ffs, you haven’t a clue!

Lewis J You have to be kidding. Over the years some of the most mean-spirited, bigoted people I have had the misfortune to meet have been your kind of religious extremists. They are happiest when interfering in others lives unbidden, and have used their twisted book to justify racism, homophobia, etc. I have absolutely no interest in stopping them worshipping whatever god floats their boat, but why do they have this need to meddle.....they just can't handle the fact that not everybody can think as they do. But don't get me wrong, I am friends with a fair few GOOD Christians, the kind who don't judge others and have no problem with my being gay. They are among the best of us. One last thing: why on earth do you types always think we sympathise with Muslim extremists? OF COURSE I would say the same about them.....I abhor religious intolerance of whatever kind: I ask again, what made you think I wouldn't?

Lewis J It is I who am saying Evangelical fundamentalists are extremist. If the cap fits....... Yes, Christianity has existed for 2,000 years, but it's strange you didn't mention they have also done many BAD things. And yes, a great many of them really are horrible (see last post) and hypocritical. I never said all Christians are hypocritical though, did I? It seems YOU are the hypocrite in ignoring my point that there are many good ones, some of whom I am happy to call my friends. 'Generalising a whole community'??? Hell no.....that is usually your religious extremist friends department, especially LGBT.

Lewis J Also, nowhere have I said I don't believe in a god.....that is just your presumption. I certainly don't believe in the kind of cruel petty god Evangelicals believe in though.......such a "god" is not worthy of the title.

Lewis J Yes, Lewis, being intolerant of religious homophobia IS winning us the fight......spectacularly over the last few decades. You simply have to fight back against these types, there is no other way: out, loud and proud really works! It matters not that you find 'us guys' hypocritical, tolerating their intolerance never produced any real gains. Over my 60 years I have seen those people damage/ruin a great many lives, and have so far not encountered a single fundie/evangelical who is pro gay rights, and so make no apologies for my intransigence.

Lewis J. If you are not an evangelical then I really don’t see what your problem is. It’s not that we are bullying those people, we are simply fighting for rights which, to be honest, should have been granted a long time ago.

Lewis J Thank you Lewis, but in my case the struggles are largely behind me. These days I am content in my life with my partner of many years. In some ways life really does get better.
