  1. Russia tends to get its ambitions mixed up with its capabilities. I suspect that they don’t really know how bad their air defences are. Their super NEBO-M is supposed to be able to spot a fly at 500 miles but unable to swat it. Its job is to stop ballistic missiles and on a couple of occasions it has been destroyed by ballistic missiles. So it doesn’t really spot them until it gets destroyed.
