  1. Can you imagine an unroadworthy car, in an emergency situation on the Autobahn - it's braking ability and suspension and tyres, showing to be grossly inadequate.

  6. In Australia, in the State of NSW - we have annual Road Worthy Inspections and Certificates once a car reaches 5 years of age. Registration is annual. Sometimes there is financial relief from various orgs/govt for this. I think that in the US, with 50 states - that would be chaotic enough, let alone going by counties - ludicrous ! The UK and Germany has it right, when it is National - so it covers everyone, everyone is on the same page as cars do travel outside their counties in different environments. I think Australia should be the same. I think the UK is even more strict. Thorough, i should say. The simple fact that, there can't be obvious death traps travelling around, seems brilliant to me. Sane.
