The Peugeot 3008 is very nice - available to rent at Sydney domestic airport. BMW and Peugeot co-developed small turbo fours. Also in Mini and Citroen. Beautiful interiors. Not soft riding Peugeots of old though, like the 505.

HSV even did a version of the hot Astra, known as a Holden here.

I have the Meganes little brother, the Renault Clio RS in the Liquid Fusion yellow colour - that changes hues as you walk around it and varying sunlight. RS models done by their Formula One team association. Are actually track cars with phenomenal suspension capabilities. Megane has limited rear wheel steering and lsd front drive. At low speeds the rear wheels turn against the front, at higher speeds the rear wheels turn with the front. They have launch control and driving modes and track telemetry and switchable airbag and also varying sports car choice to play through the cars stereo with the throttle eg Ferrari and Nissan GT-R. Clio no longer made. Far better than any vw golf crap. Limited edition - only one in Australia - holds the current fwd production record around the Nurburgring ?, circuit in Germany. Have had mine around Mt Panorama - 6 speed dual clutch transmission.

So, unfortunately Ian , Citroens are now, just rebadged Peugeots. The one company. They are not anywhere near the Citroens of the past. They are still very good cars. The only real Citroen would be the big C6 - the relative of the original DS, CX and XM.

They originally were badged Dualis in Australia because the name didn't go down well with marketing research to Australians.

Your spot on with the magical little Renaults. A Clio RS over the polo GTi, Citroen ds3 black edition, Peugeot 208 GTi and the Ford fiesta st. All good, BUT the Clio is hardcore and more track orientated and four doors looking like two and best looking. Second would be the Ford - good value. Then Peugeot and Citroen. With a larger engine and LESS performance, the VW is rubbish and plain and a nasty domineering company. Bad customer service here in Australia.

@Robin.S_1980 Yep, I understand - also the V6 thing. We unfortunately didn't get them.

Americans we want: Ford GT - designed by a young Tasmanian. Camaro Bronco Some Cadillacs 300c hemi Challenger Hellcat Some Honda's/Acuras we don't get.

Well you have a cars there we want - particularly eg Camaro - but you won't build them in RHD. This is why the Camaro was a flop here. HSV were converting them here to rhd at 20,000 extra. No brainer. Mustangs everywhere. 300c gone because Chrysler won't make them in rhd anymore - despite the huge overall population of rhd markets. When Holden and Ford stopped making here, Aussies are screaming out for v8 s. Hence the mustang sells so well. Only CAR left in our range. Its the stupid management and arrogance of the top in US Ford, Chrysler and GM that muck everything up. And the US government keeps bailing them out. Chrysler was the clever one to join Fiat-Stellantis, to give surety. But You are lucky that you are not swamped by Chinese crap and copying. This is where Australia is heading with the so called cessation of ICE. They will be the only affordable cars - electric. Even, then there will not be a price version of a Kia Picanto. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SEE WHATS COMING !!?? A certain demographic of Australia will no longer have cars And public transport is not upto scratch. An even more class ridden society Already, japan and Korea are complaining about this. The Industry, particularly Toyota are asking for more time. The infrastructure is not in place. A total disaster. Particularly in Australia. Europe is a whole different thing - with so much more concentration and access and economics of scale. We have the "tyranny of distance" and low population. A well respected American industrialist, that has been proven correct time and time again on the future of the industry, very accurately says that upto 70% of manufacturers will fail. !!??

It's Nissan's little SUV - the ones in Australia are made in the UK - use to be known as the Dualis here. Bigger brother is the X-Trail. Then the Pathfinder. Similar looks. Patrol, which looks different, is the big 4wd, competitor to the Landcruiser. No cars anymore in Australia except for the 400Z. Mitsubishi no cars here. Same with Ford, apart from mustang. Twin cab Ute and SUV dominance has led to an overall higher death toll in Australia. Anyone with a brain, would understand why Physics and mentality and classification and tax breaks and the loss of Falcon and Commodore and local production. Perhaps the only good thing, apart from the environment?, with the electric future, is that it may substantially "correct" this. ( If acceleration doesn't get in the way ......... which it probably WILL, with our local bogans ). Sit back and watch !

@whynotagain3639 yes, I know that - could possibly have both badges on it - I'll have a look Thanks 👍

@whynotagain3639 okay - yes, that was a very nice car. We should have stayed with the Opel/Vauxhall cars, rather than going Isuzu, Suzuki and Daewoo. Some Isuzu's were good though. The Jackaroo which I think in the UK was an Isuzu Trooper ? We did get the Isuzu Piazza.
1
@whynotagain3639 yes, same here, but the passenger wagon is based on the Ute.

The PROFESSIONAL motoring journalists would disagree - your the one that is not car knowledgeable - astra's here were both rebadged Nissan's and opels / Vauxhalls over time. One version even won Wheels car of the year. HSV did a version. Have won top gear competitions. European ones sold well. Still many around.

So Alpine - pronounced differently than normal - Al - peen - is to Renault what AMG is to Mercedes Benz. Renaults formula one team is now called Alpine. Alpine cars, which are awesome and expensive, use the turbo 1.8 Megane engine. They are retro styled on a previous rally winner. Not in Australia at the moment until they meet our new side impact regulations.
