  2. ​ @lmaree200886  - and the Taxis are often driven hard - and in stop/start traffic. And these 1,000,000 km taxis have had no engine overhauls and still sellable and can still pass a roadworthy if looked after. Other things obviously need replacing/overhauling.

  5. I'm sure, that due to the popularity of the Barra, engine, that someone, somewhere will remanufacture them. I hope. Americans are sourcing them, in their drag cars, with upto 3000 hp.

  8. P1800 was famous for the British tv hit series - The Saint, with Roger Moore. A 2 door wagon, is often called a "Shooting Brake". Sounds weird, but true. Something to do with going shooting, in an appropriate vehicle ?

  10. ​ @Yvolve Volvo enlisted Porsche to help design the 5 cylinder engines for their next generation of cars - the 850's. The 5 cylinders. They needed to stay up to date and the old four was getting old - even though it did keep being made. The same with the inline 6 in the 960. Porsche, back then, made more money from research and development for other car companies, than they did, making their own cars.

  11. Remember, its the old 4 cylinder engine, that go the distance, not the sixes. Though the Porsche developed fives, are turning up big kms. Their durability, reliability, practicality and affordability, compared to other European cars, gave them the nick name, here in Australia of The Swedish Holden. Biggest selling European in Australia for decades. They last - which is even more remarkable, when its home country has the complete opposite of environment to Australia 👍

  12. The Douvrin ? V6, also known as the PVR V6, was a joint design venture between Renault, Volvo and Peugeot. They all needed a sports/higher end engine for a more upmarket car to compete - so banded together to lower costs. Because of all alloy, it was very sensitive to coolant not being right and maintained and often blew head gaskets and possibly warped heads. Known for problems. Used in the DeLorean. Sad, because back in the day, it was very smooth and sounded nice and went well.
