The F 22 was a disaster and is long out of production, it rarely gets used. The biggest waste of money out there.

@XavierLeFrancais The F 22 lags behind on many of it's systems, the F 35 benefits from the Typhoon which has the most advanced systems and weapons.

@williamdodds1394 You seem to think the F 4 was somehow a magic pill, it fared badly from carriers, the RN F 4 was modified with better engines and still had a rather high loss rate. How would it fare if they couldn't take off in the bad conditions in the South Atlantic? The limited Sea Harrier was more than capable.

@doctorh1llbilly Morons make stupid comments. The F 16 is obsolete, the F 15 has had to be upgraded a lot to make up for the failure that is the F 22 The Typhoon is there and ready when a fight occurs.

@seektruth3307 Or not use the F 22 at all, it was meant to have been used for the attacks on Libya but it never got there, since then it has been used in Syria but only against undefended targets while other aircraft did the job. A very costly white elephant which is hardly ever used and only then just so it could be claimed to have been used.

Yeager said a lot, he made some big claims but he never flew many of the aircraft he made claims about including the Spitfire when he claimed the P 51 was better.. As for the F 15 it did not do so well in Red Flag, beaten by the Tornado F 3 and it lost when tested in mock combat against the Sea Harrier.

@williamdodds1394 Or not taken the Falklands back at all, the Phantom needed a large aircraft carrier and had a rather high loss rate. Maybe you did not know that the Sea harrier was test flown in mock combat against F 15's and the F 15 didn't win.

@seektruth3307 So it will just sit around and only get used as it was for an undefended target that a cheap training aircraft could hit. In other words a complete waste of money. The reason there are so few is because of the high cost and unresolved problems.

@seektruth3307 The S 400 was not in the only area the F 22 went into. You do not like it that your favourite aircraft is a failure. My best weapon is the one i only use when I have to, it is not the one sat in a shed out of action when other weapons get used. The F 22 as a deterrent has not deterred anyone. Isis has not stopped, The F 22 has no stopped the Taliban.

@darj777 The F 22 has only been used against a weak undefended target, other aircraft could do that. The F 22 being very expensive, still having trouble and out of production for years.. The F 35 has some of the best avionics from other fighters like the Typhoon..

@darj777 The F 22 out of production in 2012, it has unresolved problems and hardly gets any use. The F 35 is finally in use after many years and a lot of expensive work. The F 22 can be detected at long range and it's manoeuvrability is limited and thrust vectoring is not what it has been cracked up to be. The F 35 avionics come fro other aircraft like the Tornado.

Nothing is invisible, the F 22 is well out of date and it is no wonder production stopped many years ago. The Typhoon cab detect the F 22 long before the F 22 gets into the range of the older missiles that the F 22 carries.

@michaelmancini5773 The F 22 is a failure, the F 15 has done well but it has seldom faced anything but obsolete aircraft, it did not do well at Red Flag but it is best to try to forget that. The best long range air to air missiles now are not frim USA.

A trike fighter and very capable at it. All aircraft get developed during their careers, the Tornado was very good and had a lot of development, the Typhoon is an excellent replacement.
