@michaelengel3407 Luftwaffe bombing civilians in Poland, Norway, Holland, Belgium, France and Britain would be a war crime since the cities had no war production, RAF bombing cities later that had war production would not be a war crime. Luftwaffe bombing of Coventry if the target was war production would not be a war crime.

Child. You really should grow up before making such a fool of yourself.

We do and we should all learn from the past, many people seem to want to try to change it and lay blame when they themselves have no understanding of what happened.

@painfan476 Germany bombed Germany before Britain did. The first bombing of any city in Germany which was aimed at civilians was Freiberg and it was bombed by the Luftwaffe on the 10th of May 1940.

@michaelengel3407 The RAF only did what the Luftwaffe had been doing from the start of the war.

@callsigndd9ls897 The Cathedral was in the middle of the city, the Triumph Motor Cycle works not far from the centre but as for the rest they were spread out, the Bristol engine works was at least 3 miles from the centre. When the Luftwaffe aimed at civilians they were always called collateral damage, when the RAF aimed at military targets it gets called a war crime. The US hit less military targets and more civilians. Tall tales about the war get more perverted every day.

Hamburg was a massive destruction on a large scale but Hamburg was a strategic military target and in 1943 if the allies had hit a few more places as hard the war would have been over much sooner, saving many thousands of lives. The targeting of ball bearings was a waste of time since Germany had plenty of stocks and was importing them. The bombing of fuel plants had an effect but not enough to end the war. Cities with no military value were spared, unlike the German bombing much of which was against towns and cities with no military purpose at all. I recall a little market town in Britain with no military that had the centre bombed with incendiaries. There are many more examples of this and of course the mass murder in death camps and concentration camps and the deliberate starving of civilians in occupied countries so the Nazi`s could get fat and so much more.

War Child Unfortunately for you many of us know a bit more about it, like Churchill ordering the small bomb raids on Berlin airport in retaliation for the constant bombing of British cities which had caused close to 2,000 civilian deaths in England, some 1,075 in August alone. Sadly some people tell lies and others believe the lies.

@balu998 Firebombing which was started by Germany, of course it was terrible but Germany did it first and they murdered millions of civilians as for carpet bombings of cities that were making weapons of war I do not hold that as a war crime, I can list some 15 to 20 German cities that were spared because they had little or no war production, at the same time I can list British towns and cities bombed which had little or no war production.

@callsigndd9ls897 I care that civilians were killed, but I know that having started the bombing of civilians the Luftwaffe carried on doing so until the British finally retaliated, right or wrong when we look back it was very understandable and German cities with no military or war production were largely spared which can't be said of many of the towns and cities attacked by the Luftwaffe. It was Germany which declared total war and carried out much bombing of civilians including the first city in Germany to be bombed with the intention of killing civilians, Freiberg on the 10th of May 1940.

@michaelengel3407 Ignorance is your strong point. To put it plainly you do not know anything about it.
2
@michaelengel3407 Nothing you said applies. Sure you can't help it. Bomber command hit many targets of military importance including Hamburg, cities with no military importance were not attacked by the RAF.
2
@michaelengel3407 Try harder, I can list fifteen German cities spared because they had little or no military purpose, Dresden had 127 factories all producing supplies for the German war effort including parts for the V 1 which was still being sent to London. I can also show that German bombing killed many civilians and often in towns or cities with no military purpose.
2
@painfan476 Wrong, Churchill ordered the bombing of Berlin airport after many civilian deaths, over 1,000 in August alone. The first bombing of Germany which was aimed at civilians was by the Luftwaffe, Freiberg on the 10th of May 1940, that was by the Luftwaffe.
2
@michaelengel3407 The RAF bombed Hamburg and other cities which had a lot of war production but avoided cities with little or no war production, The Luftwaffe bombed cities with the sole intent of killing civilians.

Many soldiers and pilots did not talk about the war, I know little of where my father was during the war, I do know he was not in a bomber.
1
@callsigndd9ls897 The raid on Hamburg had a big effect on the German high command, leading some of them to believe the war was lost and that it would have ended much sooner if the RAF had been allowed to continue and bomb a few more cities like that in 1943. Of course Hamburg was a major city for war production as were all the cities bombed by the Luftwaffe.
1
@michaelengel3407 Bombing industry supporting the war effort includes a number of German cities, no city that had no war production or military importance was bombed like Hamburg and Dresden. You ignore how the Luftwaffe and USAAF bombed civilians, just try to lay all the blame on the RAF.
1
@michaelengel3407 If you are so easily offended then stop telling lies. The RAF did far more for the war effort than you could imagine. I did not see the Luftwaffe ever try to avoid civilians nor did the USAAF for that matter.
1
@tancreddehauteville764 I wonder, did you miss that little important word IF.?
1
Too bad USA wanted only to profit out of both wars and in WW II called their bombing precision even though they had trouble hitting the target, often not even hitting the right country.
