The whole point of the Sten gun was simplicity, many were dropped to the resistance in occupied countries and they were also made by the resistance, even Germany copied and made many thousands of them, just goes to show the British were not so stupid were they? Also when it came to other machine guns and heavy guns Britain had quite a few excellent designs from the water cooled Vickers that was very reliable, the Bren gun, Hispano cannon, 6 pounder, 17 pounder, 25 pounder, 3.7 inch anti aircraft gun and more

@paavobergmann4920 I did not mention aircraft or i would have mentioned the Hurricane, Spitfire, Mosquito. Lancaster and many more. The lee Enfield was used by the British army from 1895 to 1957 and about 50 other countries for a long time, it was more than just useful.
