  6. Gamerboy. The F 35 has such a wonderful coating that does not like to get wet, it also has a weird shape, it is so stealthy that it can be detected at long range. Have you ever heard of Pirate? Just as well it is not something the Russians have yet. The Flop 35 is hardly ready to do a thing, if it doesn`t get wet it will most likely catch fire and that is if the software even works. The F 22 can hardly protect itself, it is only available in small numbers and mostly sitting in hangars getting much needed maintenance, still having many problems. The powerful F 35 is heavy and does not have great performance, the thrust to weight is only 0.87 or 1.07 with a low fuel load, that compares very badly to a Typhoon. As for the performance Mach 1.6 is nothing to write home about, the Typhoon does over mach 2.3, many missiles can fly at mach 4, the F 35 has no way to fire before being detected because it can be detected outside the range of it1s missiles unless they replace the Amraam missiles with the better Meteor missiles. The F 35 has some good systems, Iris T for short range, but it still has to fly to be any good but being underpowered is a big handicap if it gets off the ground.

The Spitfire flew under bridges, The P 51 after it had the excellent rolls Royce Merlin was improved, it still could not climb or accelerate with a Spitfire and by the time the P 51 B/C entered service the Spitfire Mk XIV was there and faster. No Spitfire had fuel injection, the carburetor was more efficient than fuel injection at the time, maybe why the RR Merlin which was smaller than German or American engines was more powerful, Rolls Royce gave Bendix the carburetor that went onto the P 51, later Rolls Royce made an injection carburetor commonly referred to as single point injection. Never mind you can`t know everything, or in your case anything much.

Ray Hansen USA keeps trying to replace the B 52, but the B 1 was a costly failure, the B 2 very expensive and only made in small numbers so the old obsolete B 52 has to struggle on, just as the very expensive F 22 and F 35 were supposed to replace the F 18 and F 15 but both have had to have upgrades to carry on while other countries have newer better planes. The DC 3 is old and some of the many made up to 1950 are still flying. Very impressive if no other plane of the same age was still flying, I notice that the DC 3 once held the record for the most people being killed in air accidents by a plane, I believe the DC 10 or 747 may have overtaken that record since then.

Why is it that a Typhoon can detect an F22 at long range? If you had any facts you might have a small point. Just your say so is not enough.

GamerzHistory The big trouble with stealth is it can be detected at long range. another problem is having to waste so much time on maintenance and having many problems that both the F 22 and F 35 share. If a fighter is behind the F 22 then the F 22 can use a missile but so can the fighter behind. for BVR the fighter with the best long range missiles will have the advantage and for close up the most agile fighter with the best short range missiles will have the advantage. The F 35 if it ever works will need a good fighter to protect it, probably not the F 22 which will be sitting in a hangar waiting for repair.

  21. GamerzHistory You said a lot but you understand very little, the F 22 is so awesome it has done almost nothing. Getting wet adversely affects the coating and it is very costly and time consuming to repair it. Radar is not the only way to detect a plane, Passive Infrared works very well at long range and a coating and weird shape do nothing about that, even the F 35 is getting Pirate if the F 35 ever works. The F 18 is not all that fast but much faster than the very slow F 35, remember just one engine which is a big handicap, some modern fighters have two powerful engines, even the F 22 has. Again the poor thrust to weight ration makes the F 35 a poor performer and the top speed of mach 1.6 is beaten by many fighters from the 1960`s on, The old English Electric Lightning is much faster and so is the Tornado, the Typhoon and all the Mirages, Rafale, Saab Draken, Viggen, Gripen, the F 14, F 15, F 16, F 18 and F 22 none of these faster planes can outrun a mach 4 + missile, the slow F 35 can`t outrun a slow 40 year old fighter, are much faster. The 43,000 lbs thrust P & W F 135 in the F 35 is not even the most powerful combat engine in the world, it lags a long way behind the Kuznetsov NK 32 which gives 55,000 lbs thrust,4 of these on the Tu 160 make it very much faster than the single P & W F 135 on the F 35. The Typhoon has two engines and weighs a lot less than the F 35, the lightest version of the F 35 weighs 29,098 lbs empty compared to the Typhoon which weighs just 24,000 lbs. Explain again how a plane that has a top speed of just 1,200 mph can outrun a missile which has a speed of over 3,000 mph.

  22. GamerzHistory Poor idiot. I am saying you are completely wrong. The single engine in the F 35 is not powerful enough to make the heavy plane equal to a lighter plane with two engines. Just take performance, A top speed of mach 1.6 a poor rate of climb, poor acceleration and not even wonderful range, even the payload is small unless they stick weapons on the wings which completely defeats any stealth capability.

  23. Gamerboy. So how is a plane like the F 22 going to defend the F 35? there are few F 22`s and all the countries that have been conned into buying this piece of junk do not have F 22`s. Britain could use the Typhoon to defend the F 35 but that would be a waste of a plane that could do the job the F 35 is meant to anyway. As for getting more payload, what use is stealth if as soon as you add payload you lose any pretence of stealth.? It won`t get within enemy lines before being detected and any plane can then easily catch it.

The F 22 is a killer, it killed its own pilot, it has been grounded and had expensive modifications which add not only cost but weight. the versatile F 35 has at least some of the problems of the F 2 as well as its own problems and they both spend most of their time in hangars having very expensive maintenance.

  33. F 16`s are not exactly the latest best fighters around. The F 22 can be detected at long range, the F 35 is slightly better but both have many problems as yet unresolved. Ask an F 22 pilot how good it is, he might just be able to tell you if he can stop coughing. Of course he will not tell you it is no good, the last pilots to say anything unfavourable about the F 22 were in big trouble.

The Typhoon works very well doing all it was designed for thr F 22 has barely dine a thing, the Flop 35 has done nothing, they both cost far too much and do far too little, The Typhoon has been in service for years and the cost covers that, the very costly F 35 has not been is service and the cost so far does not cover much at all. The fact the Typhoon is very viable and far better than the American failures is just a fact.

The F 35 does have incredibly poor performance and a small internal payload.if by clean configuration you mean no payload and light on fuel it might just about keep up with an old fighter with full fuel and normal payload you might just be right. I do realize that many fighters still perform better than the Flop 35 even if they have a full payload. The F 16 is old and obsolete, it was never very fast even when new. The F 35 does not need an escort which is good because it could not keep up with it, the only reason it doesn`t need an escort is it is not working yet and does not look like doing so for some time to come. Any good fighter does not need escorting at all. Most of the advanced electronics that the Flop 35 is getting have already been proved in the far superior Typhoon.

The F 35 is as it shows all the time useless and unable to do anything. Stealth only works if it can`t be detected. It can be detected very easily and the f 35 is as obsolete as the F 117.

The software problems are ongoing, but they might get over them sometime. The poor performance is just something it is stuck with.

  68. The S 300 has only just been installed in Syria. Syria fired at two Israeli planes with S 200 missiles, even claiming they had shot them down so no the F 15 and F 16 are not invisible. No stealth is completely invisible to radar and there are other ways to detect aircraft. No country has any F 35 yet, they are still having unresolved problems.
