@patrickmcguire4617 - as a Norwegian, I agree with you. Not because of the cold, we have that too. But because of the distances and infrastructure in those parts of the world. Same thing in remote parts of Norway, non-EVs reign supreme. But for anyone else EVs work without any issues in winter. Car fires are not an issue either.

As a Norwegian, I find the English culture of beating around the bush a bit annoying. I'm sure the Dutch will agree. Wrapping threats and other things into thick padding, doesn't really hide the fact that there is a bubble-wrapped gun there pointing at you.

Little boy was beaten to death shortly after, and the parade continued.

The central bar reminds of me trying to haul some 2x4" in my car through the ski opening. Little did I know that I was breaking molds.

Its fun to hear this from an Australian, where winter is a foreign concept - while in Norway, where winter is the norm, EVs are doing just fine. Here is how you do it: 1. You charge the EV at home. 2. Then you drive around in a pre-heated and comfortable car, before returning home, and then you plug it in again. Its that easy. (Unlike ICE vehicles, an electric car is much quicker to heat up, as it doesn't need to wait for the engine to get warm).

Learn from Norway on how to get the EV numbers high. Slap a 100% tax on ICE vehicles and have 0% tax on EVs. Have cheap electricity and most people living places where they can charge at home and/or at work. Build out the EV fast charging network for those once in a blue moon long trips. Pay for it all by taxing extraction of natural resources. Simple really.

@albinklein7680 - yes, while it stands there pestering the neighbourhood in exhaust gases. The colder it gets outside, the longer you have to do this.

@ - yes, an EV is probably not what you need. But neither is a cabriolet. Doesn’t make a cabriolet a bad thing, just its not what you need. Same with EVs. They work fine for a lot of people, but not for all.

@chrisfallis5851 - Don't buy an EV if you cannot charge at home. (Appartment or house doesn't matter). But you need to be able to charge at home.

@ - 95% of new cars is EV or PHEV. So yes, most are electric,

@TheJon2442 - car fires are normally started on purpose by some criminal elements.

@kristinfrostlazerbeams - yeah, but that was public spending, and those people are idiots.

@AA-le9ls - as a Norwegian I can only guess that it won't work in Alaska due to longer distances and less infrastructure. Most of Norway (southern part where people live) is inside a 400 mile circle. And most people never travel anywhere near to that distance daily. Ample charging infrastructure for when you need to charge (outside of your home) is also available.

EVs work nicely in Norway. But Norway is a country without its own car industry (so all cars are imported), ample cheap hydro-power, a sparse population living mostly in houses (so you can charge at home), and historically massive taxes on cars (which EVs are now excemt). Also the government is rich enough to be able to afford building out charging infrastructure and support that. Very few countries will be able to follow in those fotsteps, because they don't have the same environmental factors.
