  1. As a European, this article sounds more like an anti-Trump hit-piece than any serious evaluation of a possible scenario. The hit to American economy if it was to move away from NATO would be massive. One of the few export articles US has, is weapons. And one of the main reasons to buy those, is that they come with the "certified good friend of the US" sticker. If that means nothing, then a lot of Europeans countries would have to turn to domestic production and development of weapons. That would be untold billions of dollars being pulled out of US economy, into European instead. Also the value of the dollar would crash, and it might loose its special world-reserve-currency status. And if that happens, US economy is really done for.
