  1. I don't think Putin is not a rational actor - I just think he has very different value set than we in the West do. If you place very little value on human lives, but a large amount of value on subjugating Ukraine - then Putin's actions are totally understandable. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." I just think the Russian way of thinking is alien to the West. That's why Trump says what he says, and Putin/Russia responds as they do.
