As a Norwegian, I must say Denmark should be our guiding star, and Sweden should be what we avoid at all cost. Very slowly this mindset seems to get traction in Norway, but frustratingly slow. One of the reasons is that Danish media and public discorse is much more honest and direct than what we have here.

@hansnielsen6280 - but pace is everything. Because as countries around Europe all starts cracking up - the slowest countries will be able to adjust.

Big difference is that in Norway, we just throw oil-money around to smooth over the issues. Not every country has this luxury.

Ooofff.... As a Norwegian that sux compared to us. I earn well above average in Norway and pay around 30-ish % in tax. More average people will maybe pay 25-ish %. Still shitty VAT on top, except electric cars.

@Temuldjin - yes, and of course some nasty taxes on alchohol and tobacco.

@chameleon28 - from every immigrant group/country there is an assimilation rate (which is painfully slow from some countries), the oil money can soften the pain during this assimiliation phase. However, if one keeps import from countries over the long term assimiliation rate, sociatal collapse is very much a possibility.

@larsjrgensen5975 - not in immigration policies. Norway is in between Sweden and Denmark. But due to geographic location, Denmark has been the shield, and Sweden the lightning rod. And then we have dumped oil money on top of things to smooth things out. Still its not without issues, but manageable.
