  1. With your theory, then I think Svalbard is actually even more likely area. Its already in a special relationship between Norway and Russia. It is remote, and it doesn't have so much value really.

I guess the problem with the theory, is that if it is an isolated, fairly small and far away thing, then the commitment from NATO countries doesn't need to be more than to handle the issue at hand. So it would be just about sending some fighter jets or support personell, or maybe a brigade or two from each country.
