  5. Well, lack of threats makes for a very soft, peaceful and vulnerable society. Swedes have been needing to urgently course-correct for 2 decades already. But they are now finally turning the boat around. Its a self-inflicted wound for sure, but it will make their culture less naive - so it is not only bad.

  6. Both neutral-ish? Yeah... Not sure if that gives any big points either way. But since China is considered a greater threat to the West, it will most likely support India - at least morally.

  11. Gotland has a potential high strategic value in an escalated conflict. And it is much harder to attack an island than it is to defend one. So Sweden is just doing its thing, so nobody gets any wrong ideas.

But if a conflict would break out between Russia and Ukraine and it would escalate into the Baltic states (NATO members), then the island of Gotland becomes a very valuable strategic asset. So Sweden just want to make sure it isn't caught by any surprises - which is what a country's defense is all about.

  13. Huh? Only Afghanistan was a NATO mission, because of the 9/11 attacks - in which USA invoked Article 5. Afghanistan failed to apprehend and extradite Bin Laden, and NATO invaded and took over Afghanistan. None of the other wars have NATO being involved (NATO member countries has been involved, but not NATO)

  19. Swedes have not lost Swedish. Knowing English doesn't mean you don't speak your native language. Brainwashing might be correct, but at least they are taking precautions when protecting a potentially strategic area.
