As a Norwegian, this is way overhyped. Russia has shit-ton of land, and of course China is interested in those resources. But these areas are super inhospitable, except maybe a few months mid summer. The rest of the year, it is much more hostile than most people can imagine. Just look at the martime-traffic map, and you'll see there is next to no vessels up there. There is nothing really to fight over, that cannot be traded for anyways. Canada have vast areas with probably a shit-ton of undiscovered resources. But again, not worth extracting, because the climate is so bad for large parts of the year.
