Yeah, I wonder the cost of the system. Even if the shots are cheap, an autocannon with burst rounds probably are way cheaper in reality.

Reflectivity of a surface is dependent on the frequency of the light. (That's why you can get wifi through walls, but cannot see through them). So I guess they'll just adjust frequency a lot, so regardless of what you coat it with, it will go through.

My guess would be it would change the frequency of the laser beam. As reflectiveness of a surface is dependent on the frequency of the light.

The new and improved one? With the new and improved fleece bullet stop?

Yeah, guns are obsolete the day one can just pop a laser on to the battlefield, and the laser just pops each enemy soldier as soon as he is spotted. No delay, no noise, no light, just dead, next one, dead, etc.

I think blinding weapons are prohibited thankfully. Remember reading about this as a potential spin off from the 'Star Wars' program in the 1980s. They never got the lasers good enough to destroy ICBMs, but they could blind people. In theory one could mount such lasers on airplanes and just fly over the battlefield, and instantly blind anyone looking up on the airplane. Not very nice.

Probably because of the legality of blinding weapons, so I think he didn't want to talk about that much...
