  2. China is much smarter than the US. It will do business but will stay away from telling Afghans how to run their country. No talk about democracy or human rights and stuff like that. Just business.

  4. The US and Taliban had a deal about US exiting Afghanistan by August. Both parties held on to their end of the agreement.

  5.  @zarach9459  - as far as I know Opium cultivation is prohibited by Taliban. Even had politicians in my country being worried about the price of heroin now for drug addicts going up.

  8. Very good video, but I feel it lacks the ideological, religious and cultural aspect that I think also plays a huge part here. The Afghan nation isn't a nation like we westerners think of it. It is a loosely couple group of clans that have not much in common, except maybe the hatred for foreign occupation and Islam. Taliban does however transcend these clan structures as it is based on the common gathering point of Islam. At the end of the day, stability is what is important to the major players. And if it takes a somewhat brutal Islamic dictatorship for it to work in Afghanistan, then that's probably for the best. And finally an important thing - over the last 20 years (while Americans have ruled Afghanistan) - the population has doubled! The country is basically just filled up with kids and teenagers, with very few adults. Hopefully these kids and teenagers have learned English to an extent where they can enjoy YouTube and the like. And maybe want something more than living in a dust-bin. Just like Vietnam turned out ok, Afghanistan might. I'm personally glad it is over, and that the Afghans again can rule their own land.
