  1. Well, its worse than that. USA had since WW2 projected itself as a stable and reliable partner. That image has now been crushed. So there is a lot of "de-risking" going on in other countries, to decouple themselves from the US. This will take some time, but will be very damaging in the long run.

  2.  @alquinn8576  there are many ways to go about doing things. Its correct that Europe has been mooching of US security for a long time. But this has given US a big say in European security politics. Trump suggesting/threatening long term allies with military conquest of their territory is not going to go down well.
