  1. Interesting analysis, and the idea of taking a long term view on this is kind of interesting. At some point in the future the Russia/Ukraine war will be over. However, Russia will be totally locked out of the West for generations afterwards. As for military surge capacity, it is clear that the way the Western military complex is setup does not lend itself well to this. Its great for fighting smaller wars or campaigns. At least this war has highlighted this shortcoming. If it can or will be rectified in time to help Ukraine, time will tell.
