I get what you mean, but you still technically trusted someone with your heart, and they broke it by unilaterally ending the relationship. Perhaps you can say that YOU invested all of that in the wrong person and gave your heart to the wrong person. That helps you learn from your choices, but ultimately, they chose to break your heart. You gave it to them after all. It's ok to allow yourself to feel the pain of it for a bit. Gotta feel it to heal it, right? Then, keep moving forward.
