@cosmictreason2242 Exactly. Jacob learned the lesson that he needed God's approval in order to be truly happy, not his own. I don't think the doctor is ready to make that kind of change in his life yet, which is why he didn't take the proper lesson from those scriptures.

Keep in mind that scripture is about receiving GOD'S blessing and not your own. In order to do that, you have to work toward the things that God approves of. So sometimes, you must wrestle with your OWN fleshly desires. Like sex outside of marriage, for example. You'd have to actively resist or wrestle with that. Or wrestle with forgiving someone who has offended us or sinned against us. Or wrestle with putting our own selfish desires ahead of what we know are more important priorities at the time. Looking to be approved of by God is all the healthy stuff we mentally and emotionally need to be happy, and that's actually how we find true peace.
