"Most people don't listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” –Stephen R. Covey. People that do this prevent themselves from improving and learning and growing.

So the man actually knows that he is talking to scammers, but he is trying desperately to convince himself otherwise. The wife has very low self-esteem, because her husband basically said he is planning on cheating on her, and yet, she sticks around. Shes focusing on the fact that he is talking to scammers as a distraction from the fact that he is trying to cheat.

In some cases. Sometimes they are actually busy too. If the man wants to avoid relationships with insecure women and he notices the red flag, he will back off, no matter how much he likes her. Now, there are tons of men out there that don't know that this is a red flag. Also, lots of men will notice the red flag, but just ignore it or in some cases, they just accept it. The men that want a happy and simple relationship will not be ok with that though. Although, the man should be honest and say that he isn't interested anymore, and not just ignore her. It takes courage to do this, and it could help her adjust her approach with the next guy she dates.

That only applies to the men that lack genuine self-respect and self-confidence.

@seekingpathways1045 , I would agree with that under healthy circumstances, but in this particular case, the woman has been lying a lot, and putting down her daughter and is very jealous, and he validates all of that behavior. He is likely afraid to stand up to his wife and correct her behavior. Either that, or she has successfully manipulated him into always agreeing with and validating her wrong doings. Or its because he is the same way, and her behavior validates him.

That was definitely a red flag, but he should have just told her he wasn't interested anymore, and not ignored her. That's the decent thing to do. At least he apologized for it though, and that was humble of him.

@vondahe Take away everything, including his personal space. By that, I mean go into his room and sit with him until he talks to you about how he is feeling inside. Stay there in his room every day for weeks if you have to while reminding him that the only way to make things better is to open his heart to you, but you have to be compassionate and willing to listen when he does decide to talk to you, and validate his feelings, no matter what they are, and do not get defensive, even if he blames you for something. Just humbly acknowledge. That show supernanny has great examples of how to deal with teenagers and she shows the common mistakes that parents make without realizing they're making them.
