  1. Sorry to hear you went through that. I think it's awesome that you're giving your parent respect and independence though despite everything. That spare the rod scripture is actually figurative and metaphorical. It's not literal. So many people misinterpret this, and end up traumatizing and hurting their children. Sometimes, I feel like some just use their misinterpretation as an excuse to do whatever they want.
