  1. In other words, this describes lust vs. love. Giving into lust is basically allowing ourselves to be led around by our libido like a wild animal. We have to keep that lust under control, because that is how we hurt others and hurt ourselves, and prevent ourselves from finding a true connection.

  2. I wouldn't blame "Modern dating." The real problem is how many of us are raised. Many of us are raised without proper love and attention and being taught the proper values. Therefore, we adopt the wrong values and look only for ways to make us feel better, and that can lead to very toxic perspectives and allow us to take in toxic teachings, and sometimes, we end up putting our worth entirely on our partner. On top of that, most people refuse to be humble in adulthood, and humility is required to heal the issues that caused toxic perspectives in us in the first place.

  3. ​ @Psych2go  I believe bad association is only one major factor. The encouragement of one's environment is also a factor, but that would fall into association. I don't believe anyone is innately evil or is born this way, but if we are not careful, or don't know any better, or don't have our own set of principles, we can fall into it. Whether that'd be because of coping with a fear and insecurity in the wrong way, or a loss of hope, or just fostering a thought that we know deep down is bad, we can all be susceptible to bad deeds. I think that being humble enough to know that we are not impervious to it and accepting that we need to take our own steps to avoid getting caught up in bad behavior is a good first step to protecting ourselves.
