In the short period since I was a child in the 90s, Islam has gone from being something few people ever thought about: to being something that totally dominates every aspect of British public life, and which is at the centre of every major clash in an increasingly divided society. I shouldn't have to say I think that's a good thing. I should be allowed to not like it.
