Energy companies have been told that they won't be allowed to exist in a few years, so they're not investing in new exploration or capital = higher profits. Inflation (due to Covid handouts) means the value of a unit of currency is less = higher profits. Government embargos Russian energy for political reasons = higher profits for companies like Shell Notice that all of these are the result of government intervention.
