15 years ago, people like me were told by people like these two that I was a bigot and a fear-monger for predicting exactly this kind of thing if the alphabet lobby were given their way. So I'm afraid right now - I'm kinda just sitting back and going "You made your bed, now go lie in it".

These two women who are bleating here are the same people who a very few years ago, were calling people like me every name under the sun for saying marriage was a man and a woman. Some of us predicted exactly this kind of insanity would happen if they got their way and did away with what everyone had understood since before the Bronze Age. And now they want me to feel bad that they are getting the same treatment? The same abuse? Having the same nonsense-based emotional arguments thrown at them? I don't feel bad for them. I think this is richly karmic.

Indeed. This is exactly the point I've been trying to make about the acceptance of gay "marriage", which led directly to all this lunacy. There's a lot of people who are trying to say, "can't we have just a bit of woke ideology?" It's like asking, "can't my house have just a bit of dry rot".

@thomasm1964 It was feminists, and also lesbians, who demanded the abolition of gender norms: the acceptance of the idea that gender was a social construct, and that society should have no fixed norms of behaviour for men or women. Well - you got what you wanted. Some of us warned this was where it was leading, and we were screamed down.

@msimons7440 "A marriage between two women is not about role playing" Yes it is - they're cos-playing as a married couple. For all of history until 30 seconds ago, people would have found the very idea absurd. it was YOUR movement who insisted sex didn't matter, gender was a social construct, male and female roles were fluid and that "because I want it" was the ultimate moral argument that should over-ride everything every society had understood since the dawn of time. Now you're complaining because you're on the receiving end of the same manipulative, logic-free, "gender doesn't matter, it's all fluid, love is love, stop being so bigoted" language you used on people like me. (Along with massive amounts of personal abuse which I have not forgotten BTW). So as your side told me a decade ago - stop being a bigot, get with the modern world, get over your insecurities, embrace diversity, stop being so judgemental etc etc: and welcome the brave and stunning trans-women into your institution. Enjoy the results of your own ideology.

@msimons7440 Because (as was predicted, and intended) it normalized the idea that sex-roles were fluid, interchangeable, determined culturally rather than biologically: and that all that mattered in social policy was pandering to fringe minorities. Since the freakin stone age everyone understood that marriage was a man and woman, and men and women were different. Then within just ten years of doing away with the first understanding, we did away with the second. Too much of a coincidence.

@angelaschone2847 Oh sure - it's a total coincidence that after everyone for the whole of human history knowing what a man and a woman was, and what a marriage was - we suddenly got confused about the former five minutes after we got confused about the latter. The most alarmist fears of the critics of gay marriage have turned out to be far less bad than what has happened. And it took just ten years.

The rot set in with gay "marriage". Some of us said at the time it would mess up clearly defined notions of gender. We were sneered at at the time, but I defy anyone to say we weren't proved right. In just 10 years.

"marriage could be between three people" Yes, there are precedents for polygamy - (though never from societies you'd want to replicate) but there are none for homosexual "marriage". "what has happened so evil with gey (sic) marriage" Apart from trying to castrate children, force women to have creepy men intruding into every single part of their intimate lives, a persistent attempt to normalize paedophilia, a massive assault on free-speech, the creation of an over-mighty lobby-group, violence against dissenters, and an attempt to destroy the very concept of an objective reality and create a world of pure ideological fanaticism? Of course - all of that was the intention of the people who forced gay "marriage" on the culture: and they knew this was a critical first step to everything else they wanted to achieve. You can see the kind of libertinism and cultural nihilism you're espousing countless times in history: and it's always in late-stage civilisations that are in the advanced stages of degeneracy and decay.

@Bungle-UK "Marriage equality" is woke re-branding that was done on homosexual "marriage" to try to make it sound less absurd. There was always "equality" in marriage, if certain people did not wish to partake, that was up to them. The whole concept was specifically created to break down the social norms that have always held society together - and we are seeing the results now. If you want to see this insanity continue - by all means keep defending the insanity that started it all, and which led directly to the latest iteration.

Apart from that. . . . . . All the arguments you just used for gay "marriage" are being used for this too - "But I want it", "you're a bigot", "it doesn't affect you", "love is love" etc etc. All just empty, meaningless emotional dribble.
