  1. Telling people to "Stop being lazy and get a job in a café/shop/taxi" was fine back when: 1. Wages from such a job would cover a basic lifestyle. 2. There wasn't infinite competition from millions of immigrants who only hire their own anyway.

  2. "We need workers" is always code for - "We want cheap labour, and not to have to train anyone". Asking people to work for wages that will never give them a life - is unrealistic.
