Indeed. The people in Liverpool had another demonstration the other day, there was no violence, and so there was no media coverage at all. If you play by their rules, they ignore you.

I get a lot of flack for saying this - but excess immigration is at the root of so many of our problems. From racial tensions, to overloaded public services, to high housing prices, to stagnant wages to rising crime. We need to drastically cut the numbers, be a lot choosier about who we take, and stop sacrificing our own culture to appease newcomers.

Quite. There's plenty of legitimate criticism to be made of the French authorities, but it's the UK government who have made this country so incredibly tempting.

@Felix-rising Indeed, a lot of us have. And every election we get told they'll reduce the number, and after the election the numbers go UP.

The only way to solve this is to incarcerate all illegal immigrants (like the Australians did) and refuse any "asylum" claim from anyone who has come through a safe country. Which isn't going to happen because no one in our political class actually wants to stop this. The plan is to let the numbers get so vast that removal becomes impossible.

@beatonthedonis47 Actually the economy was doing well from the early 90s onwards thanks to long-term global boom which allowed a moderate level of prosperity to continue in this country despite the criminally incompetent mismanagement of the economy (and everything else) by New Labour. Oh and it's the rich who benefit from endless cheap labour and rising property prices, and the poor who suffer from them. A fact you'd understand if you knew anything about economics and didn't just bray out mindless leftist clichés like the rest of the witless pond-slime who think education is a right wing plot.
