  1. Everyone focussed on Vance's comments about free speech - but the most significant part was when he said, "People don't think of themselves as interchangeable cogs in a global economy". That was revolutionary - a senior politician saying that cultures are not the same: and strongly implying Europeans should have a homeland.

  3. If Europeans want Americans to defend Europe - then Europe has to be worth defending. At the moment, liberal elites are working furiously to make Europe a place no one would want to defend.
