  1. I once heard an elderly Israeli academic being asked what he thought about how unpopular Israel now was with western liberals. He laughed and said - "We've always been so dearly loved our whole history it would so upset us to think people suddenly stopped liking us". In other words - Israel doesn't care if Arabs, or Europeans think they "should" exist. They have food, weapons, and positive birth-rates: they're going to be fine.
