"Social contract" can only exist in societies that have high trust. High trust requires homogeneity, preferably ethnic and religious homogeneity (Europe until 5 minutes ago): but at the very least a shared language and values. (United States until 5 minutes ago). The UK no longer has any of that.

@johnkitching2248 "Why does high trust require ethnic and religious homogeneity?" Because humans have a natural in-group preference, and a natural suspicion of those they see as outsiders. There's a clear pattern over the last hundred years that support for social programmes is higher in cohesive societies and lower in non-cohesive ones: people don't want to pay to support people they see as "not like them". Every example we have of "diversity" in the real world, (as opposed to the fantasy one inhabited by multicultural advocates): reveals far more division, conflict and inter-community strife than of peaceful co-prosperity. The fact that even in multi-ethnic societies people naturally separate out into different areas dominated by one group - shows the example on a small scale. Sadly - ethnic cleansing shows it on a large scale.

We know the evils they will throw at us next - ever more immigration, ever higher taxes, ever less freedom, ever more woke.
