Ultimately it's because they don't want to remove them. They like the dilution of population, they like the high house prices, they like the cheap labour.

If the Tories were actively working to encourage as much legal and illegal immigration as possible - would the situation be any different? Oh wait, what do I mean, "If". . . . . . .

@samhartford8677 "the UK government cannot take them out of the country/deport them" Yes they could. The Pakistani government simply told people - "Leave or get shot". Even if you don't want to go as far as that, you could dump them in austere prison camps and tell them "You're here until you decide to "voluntarily" return home". It's a question of will.

@DaisyRoseSheen "What’s not to like about cheap labour" I really shouldn't have to explain this to an adult - but low wages are bad for literally everyone except the people at the top. Not to mention the general unravelling of society the immigration needed to sustain low wages is causing.
