@krim-xn7jn It's unarguable that there are people who will turn down free accommodation if it means losing access to drugs. The people who are offended by that statement - know nothing about the homelessness problem.

You should probably now apologize to all the people on this thread you have screamed insults at because they failed to react with the kind of facts-free emotion you have allowed yourself to be controlled by. If we are now moving onto your fall-back position: then obviously the answer will be that it will vary from place to place. However I don't see that preventing the creation of the kind of sprawling drug-camps we can now see in many US cities (which came about because the ACLU compelled municipal authorities to allow camping in any public spaces as you demand) would be a negative.

@krim-xn7jn My understanding was that the proposal was to remove tents from those who had been repeatedly warned not to pitch tents in a manner that caused a nuisance - such as blocking shop doors for example. If you have information that the policy was for a blanket confiscation of tents - could you please quote who said it and when?

You blindly label as "evil" anyone who points out there are consequences to allowing certain behaviours to escalate unchecked. Creating huge slum-camps in public parks where people can destroy themselves with narcotics, and everyone around them with rampant crime: is not "compassionate", it's letting your civilisation rot.
