  1. It astounds me that no one in Europe seems to be talking about the catastrophic decline in birth-rates: this is literally life and death for our civilisation, and I haven't heard a single political leader talking about how to fix it.

That is comforting! "Of course this cannot go on for ever" It's going to start being an acute problem within the next 20 years.
