  1. I actually think in a sense - you might be right. I suspect we will see a drift back towards religion as this century wears on just because so many people find life without it so utterly bleak and meaningless.

  2. You sure? After Rome fell, it was well over a millennium before Europe started to reach comparable levels of prosperity and stability. And of course - that wouldn't have comforted a far-sighted Roman much since practically nothing was left of their culture.

  5. The difference of course - is the depressed don't generally devote their time and effort to actively trying to make things worse for everyone else. I can speak as someone who's had depression.

  9. Everything that gives humans mental stability is being systematically stripped away: family, faith, community, traditions, culture, productive work, common identity etc. Humans were not designed to have no purpose, no values and nothing in common with anyone else.
