Can we just spare a moment to acknowledge that those of us who said gay marriage was a bad idea: have been totally vindicated just ten years later. We were called "paranoid fear-mongers" for predicting far LESS crazy than what has actually happened.

@roaroa5291 If institutions exist purely for personal gratification, and a small minority can demand institutions be changed for their gratification, and you say that biological sex doesn't matter in the one institution where it is absolutely critical - you have everything that leads directly to this lunacy. Some of us warned about it at the time: and for all we were laughed at, we've been totally vindicated.

I used to think that, but increasingly I think we should restrict free speech to those ideas that have long served and advanced our civilisation. Total freedom will just be abused by Jihadists, Marxists and alphabet extremists: who will then use their freedom to deny it to everyone else.

@roaroa5291 "The institution of marriage has certain benefits which same sex couples wanted" Thank you for admitting they F'd with the most fundamental basis of society just because a small minority wanted some gimme-dats. This is exactly why we're in the mess we're in - casually tearing up principles that people have understood for millennia simply because a few malcontents thought everything needed to be about them.
